Verb + ing
When the verb ends with –e
Drop the –e and add -ing
Example:
Fake - Faking
When the verb ends with
consonant-vowel-consonant
Double final consonant and add -ing
Example:
Tan - Tanning
When the verb ends with
ie
Drop –ie and put –y and then add -ing
Example:
Lie - Lying
All other verbs.
Just add –ing at the end.
Example:
Call - Calling
What about verbs ending with –y
Just add –ing at the end.
Example:
Fly - Flying
Write the –ing form of the verbs in the correct column:
Have start study live write plan run swim
take talk wait win
Add -ing Drop –e and add -ing Double final consonant
and add –ing
Just add ‘not’ after verb ‘to be’
