Presentation
Presentation method 1-Instagram
The first presentation method I would do is to upload my production to
Instagram. I have chosen this is because Instagram is a direct way to
advertise to my target audience age range, as Socialfilms said "26.1%
of all UK Instagram users were between the ages 18–24-year-
olds"; which means 26.1% of Instagram users in the UK are within my
target audience age range. An Instagram account is viable as it is free
to use and an easy way to promote and sell the clothes. This would
make Instagram an effective way to present the merchandise as it
reaches my target audience. Using Instagram would also help to
spread the brand to a wider audience who potentially wouldn't have
discovered the brand, if I hadn't posted on to Instagram. In my
research I have seen other fashion brands use Instagram to promote
their products, I have seen these Instagram accounts post similar
videos to mine with very visually engaging edits of models wearing
their clothes, one example of this is Missing Since Thursday. These
videos are meant to capture the audience's attention.
Presentation method2-Merchandise
The second presentational method would be merchandise, such
as t-shirts. This would help to promote the brand Aylien's
Castle, as my brand is an online fashion retailer, selling other
brands of clothes on their website along with selling their own
merchandise. This has also been done by other brands, which
have a similar business model, for example ASOS. This would
be viable, with the right funding, as the cost per t-shirt would
be £1.59 from Wordans and cost per print would be £3.96 from
TeamShirts, making the total cost £5.55. Therefore 100 t-
shirts would cost £555, which means that they would be sold
for £10 a shirt. The merchandise would be effective as other
fashion retailers have done this before and my eye-
catching logo would begin to get my brand recognised.
Presentation method 3-YouTube
The third presentation method would be YouTube. This is an
effective way to advertise the brand as you can make a
YouTube account for free then promote your brand through
video format. This is viable as a promotion method as it is free
to make and is effective in drawing people into the brand,
because the videos that I will upload to the channel are unique
and eye catching. YouTube is also a website used by many
young people, with my target audience making up 24% of
people in UK (according to Socialfilm), who use YouTube.
Therefore, my target audience age range are more likely to see
my videos. In my research a few of the brands uploaded their
videos to here. for example, Burberry "Open spaces film". This
video helped to boost Burberry's popularity recently since
people have found the video very interesting and eye catching
to watch.
Presentation Method 4-TikTok
The fourth presentation method is TikTok. This is not an
effective way to advertise clothes since people are less likely to
engage with brands on TikTok, as most higher quality online
brands use Instagram as their main social media to promote
their products, as Instagram is a more focused form of media
which people must pay more attention to it. TikTok only allows
shorter videos that must be under 3 minutes, whilst Instagram
videos can be 10 minutes long, also TikTok doesn't let you post
images, this would take longer to make media for the
TikTok account because making videos would take longer to
make than taking pictures.
Presentation method5-Livescreening
The fifth presentation method is a live screening. This would
be an effective way of presenting my work because I would be
able to show both videos and be able to get feedback off my
audience. This is also guaranteed that the audience will see
the whole video. This is viable since all I need to do is get a
group of people to watch the video which could be done in
college as well as them all being in the target age range.
Presentation Outcomes
Presentations- Instagram
For Instagram I have made an account called Aylien's Castle.
On it I have released teaser trailers of both the videos, then a
few days later I released both videos in full. A few days later I
released both the posters. Since the release people have begun
to follow the account and interact with the posts, by liking and
viewing them. I have put a link to the YouTube channel in the
bio of the account, to link the YouTube and Instagram accounts
together, as well as posting both t-shirts together in the same
post.
Presentations- Merchandise
For the merchandise presentation I have made these t shirts
with the brand logo on them. These would be sold on the
Aylien's Castle website as merchandise. The reason I have
chosen black and white as the colour for the T-shirts is because
I want it as more of an addition to an outfit, rather than a
stand-alone piece. This would make it attractive to the
customers of Aylien's Castle as they would want a potentially
'calmer' looking t-shirt, as a compliment to their louder
clothing item, that they purchased through Aylien’s Castle.
The reason I made the design for the black shirt with a white
background was to make the logo standout. I have also made a
post on the Instagram advertising that the t-shirts are coming
soon.
Presentation- YouTube
For the YouTube channel I have uploaded both videos and
name the channel 'Aylien's Castle'. I used the logo as the
profile picture, but also added a colour swirl as the channel
banner. I feel that this is a mix of both the video aesthetic -
like light and dark mixing. The Aylien's Castle launch video
has received 5 views, which is the same as the Intermission
video. I have also gained 2 subscribers since making this
account.
Presentation- Livescreening
For my live screening I showed both videos to a group of people
in my class. I showed them both videos to get feedback. Also,
for my project my classmates were the same age as my target
demographic which made their comments on my work more
important to my project, and my improvements of my project. I
found these responses very useful as it helped me to improve
my work as the project went on.
Presentation summary
Overall, my presentations are good and are thematically
appropriate ways to present my work, as they fit the way a
clothing brand would present themselves. Using social media
like Instagram and YouTube, creating their own merchandise
and doing live viewings of their videos, as market research to
their target audience.
