HOW DOES OUR MEDIA PRODUCT
R E P R E S E N T PA RT I C U L A R S O C I A L
                 GROUPS?
AGE
When being introduced to the social group in our movie, it starts off as flashbacks when they
are just children around the age of 12. This seems like the typical age that bullying may
begin to take place as children are entering secondary school and getting involved with
different crowds of people to what they normally associate with. Children at this age are
starting to develop their personalities and shape into the sort of person they will become,
and so they experiment and sometimes feel the need to pick on other kids in order to show
off and try and prove something.
Inspiration
Although in our movie we have used a young social group,
bullying can occur at every age.
The links below are two examples of bullying at different ages.
We got our inspiration from the clip of the children.

SOCIAL CLASS
The scene in which the group of young boys
are bullying a certain individual shows that
they may be of a higher class because of
the fact that they have scooters and the
victim does not. This could be one of the
reasons the boy is getting bullied of this
gang in the first place.
GENDER
Although they are all of the same gender and race, this boy is being
sectioned out as though he is different to the rest of the group in a major
way. The male gender is represented in a very stereotypical way as the
young group of boys are trying to show off in front of each other to seem
hard and superior. This is also the case when the victim gets his own back
and uses harsh swear words, which is a typical male trait in a violent or
hostile situation. The fact that he is using physical actions to get back at his
childhood bullies is also another stereotypical role of a male.
AUDIENCE
This may link to the target audience as it us more likely for young adults to
watch a horror than anyone else, and the fact that the characters are of similar
age to the audience will allow them to feel more understanding of the situation
and the emotions the characters may be feeling. The audience could feel
pathos for the main character as they may have experienced similar situations
when they were children themselves.
LATER IN THE MOVIE

Later on in the film, although it is still a form
of bullying, the actions are more serious and
developing into the typical horror genre.
Because of the characters being older at
this point, the teasing of children is replaced
by revenge and real violence.
