George was a pioneer in the field of
oral history who from the 1950s
recorded interviews with people in rural
areas. He taped interviews with many
people including blacksmiths, ploughmen,
drovers and shepherds and edited the
results into a number of books including
‘Where Beards
He was also an accomplished story
writer and wrote short-stories, novels
and poems.

Gomer a flute, he was

Pony:

Conclusion 1，
To the family, Pony is another family member, but
the piano is the
tool mainly for helping the member, Gomer.

One—the family
They are poor but finally they still kept Pony. Even if
their own bread can not be guaranteed, they are
willing to raise Pony. That is the human nature. No
matter how difficult people themselves are, they will
never give up what they treasure—relation, friendship,
love and so on.

The other—Dando
Conclusion 2，
Dando, a ragman, with no one to care for him, was
totally touched by the piano’s echo of the notes.
When he heard the notes, he was transformed as if he
had heard angels. As a lonely man, it is the notes
that made him filled with the long lost hope and
excitement. At least, now he had a piano to
accompany him and to drive away the loneliness……
