This document provides a course description for an upper-intermediate English course consisting of over 140 hours over 150 minutes. The course aims to develop communication skills through speaking practice, reading various texts, listening activities, and writing emails, letters and essays. Students must choose two books to read from a list provided and complete assignments on them. The course is communicative but students must speak English. Exams will be held in June and/or September testing reading, listening, writing and speaking skills.

Develop communication in many situations Speak ad improve fluency and accuracy Learn grammar (tenses, conditionals, prepositions, types of sentences (result, reason, purpose, etc.), adverbs, adjectives (comparatives and superlatives), etc. Read texts (books, internet, newspapers) Listen (interviews, TV, radio, news) Write (emails, letters, express your opinion, for/against essays, book/film review)

- 6. Two original books in English to choose from: -The boy in the striped pyjamas, by John Boyne - The curious incident of the dog in the nighttime, by Mark Haddon. -The Number 1 Ladies detective agency, by Alexander McCall Smith. -The five people you meet in heaven, by Mitch Albom. -Any of Agatha Christie’s novels.
- 7. 1) Book 1: write a book review to be handed in by 20th January 2015. 2) Book 2: for class discussion or book review first week May 2015

- 18. If you are disabled, please come and talk to me for your exams and classes to be adapted. Deadline for deregister in the course (Anulación Matrícula oficial) is 30th April 2015. “Renuncia” can be done in October, without any proof of anything. YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR MONEY BACK. SORRY!!!!
- 19. Please don’t leave us! In October: “permuta”, look for another student who wants to change with you (there is a list on a notice board, steps to 1st floor) then go to Secretaría and talk to the teachers Later: talk to the teacher of the class you want to change to and go to Secretaría.
