Introduction:
• The famous and fabulous drink produced ever the
  coca cola manufactured in Atlanta Georgia referred
  as coke invented in 1885.
• Production starts in since March 27,1944.
• Originally intended as a patent medicine in late
  19thcentury by John Pemberton and brought out
  by a businessman Griggs Candler.
• Used to cure morphine addiction and several
  disease.
History:
• The prototype coca cola recipe was formulated
  by eagle drug and chemical CO a drug store in
  Columbia Georgia by john Pemberton.
• Non-Alcoholic version of French wine coca.
• First sales were at Jacob’s pharmacy in Atlanta
  Georgia on May 08,1886.First advertisement in
  Atlanta Journal on May 29.
• Pemberton declared that the name coca-cola
  belonged to his son Charley Pemberton began
  selling his own version of the product.

•Having operation for over 125 years coca-cola become
an Icon of American culture.
•Before long coca-cola was being sold in Europe. When
the onited states entered in world war 2nd ,coca-cola
was being sold to both sides.
•The coca-cola co. structure has a characteristics of
both organic and mechanistic models.
•The co. has over 70clean water projects in countries all
across the global.
Stakeholders, Manager and Ethics.

• Share owners, employees, bottling partners, governmental
  agency, suppliers, Retail customers, consumers, local
  communities, NGO’s are the stakeholder.
• Share owners are concerned with earning a profit local
  communities care about environmental issues and labour
  standards.
• Management want to keep labour cost down while
  employees want and increased benefits.

• What is the name of the organization? Give a short
  history of the company. Describe how it has grown
  and developed. Be sure to identify when your
  organization was founded, and who founded it?

  Inputs are raw material, employees and of course secret
  recipe. processes are the accounting, managing,
  marketing, supply chain, management, distribution,
  maintenance etc.
• Does the organization have divisional managers? Describe
  the important functions?
   Divisional managers, head of each regional division.
   Functional managers are head of HR, Innovation and
  development, marketing and public affairs. The lanowledge
  gained from doing this will give the org. a better
  understanding of its bottling partners.
Designing Organizational Structure:
Specialization & Coordination
• The coca cola company realizes that divisional structure
gives to react in uncertain environment and also allow to
main level of stability.
• Multi visional structure allows divisional managers to
handle daily operations while operate managers are free to
follow long term planning.
• A multidivisional matrix structure may be better suited for
the coca cola company. This would increase coordination
between cooperate and at all levels to create solution to
problem.
Managing in a Changing Global
              Environment.

• Coca cola not compete for customers but also for raw
  material.
• The coca cola company must also compete to get the
  best employees.
• The company uses exclusive contracts with its
  bottling partners and other customers.
• The company done excellent job managing
  environment.
Questions:
• How many people does your organization employ?
The Coca-Cola Company employs 98,400people.
• How many levels are there in the organization’s hierarchy?
We were unable to obtain exactly how many levels there are
in the organization, however according to an organization
chart found on the company’s website (located in the
appendices) there are at least five levels. We were not able to
find information on the structure of the regional operating
groups.
Organizational Design.

• Two operating groups, bottling investment and
  corporate. Divided by different region, geographic
  regions
• Characteristics of structure is both organic and
  mechanistic. Company move from centralized
  toward decentralization.
• Company measure success in may ways, like sale
  base, volume growth(Gallons and units sold), looks
  only profit.

       Authority & Control.
• Currently approximately 98,400 employees worked,
  each branch have 5 top level managers.
• CEO is a member of senior leadership team, these 4
  people answer directly to CEO, org. also under gone
  centralization of some company dept.
• Organization trying to create a more innovative
  culture by pushing toward de-centralization.
Organizational Design
     & Strategy.
•The core competences that give the org. it best competitive
advantages are its strong brand name and its network of
bottlers and distributers.
•Relationship with its distributers another completive
advantage, The structure of coca-cola is ideal for its
differentiation strategy because they focus on market.
•Company known that “for innovative marketing that
constantly promote their brand name which protects their
domain from competitors, coca-cola is too late for introduction
new type of beverages, energy drinks, as well as blossoming
coffee drinks.
Creating & Managing
 Organizational Culture.
•The culture of the coca-cola company is
 mission driven focused on refreshing mind, inspiring,
optimism, one and only making a difference from
other companies.
•The company had of stories which share real life
examples and inspired consumers as well as
employees.
•Positive stories provide foundations for employees to
be not only model workers but model citizen.
Organizational Technology.


• Output processes are the greatest source of
  uncertainty.
• Coca-cola company does not makes end
  products.
• Distributors and bottlers mix other ingaidiats
  and then sell the product- coca cola name is on
  the end product.
• Organization has a moderately high level of
  complexity due to the fact it uses mass
  production.
Organizational Transformations.
• Company as discussed was founded in 1888,to take
  the full advantages of the coca-cola name, after
  120 it remains in the growth stage.
• Company faced many internal problems like trying
  to meet employees demand which keeping labour
  cost low.
• Another problem is lack of information about
  company regional structure, it is impossible to say
  whether company follow matrix or
  multidimensional structure.
Questions:
• Do managers and employees use words and
  phrases to describe the behavior of people in the
  org.
  One common word used in the company is
  diversity. They emphasize it, employees are trained
  to handle it. Diversity means respecting individuals,
  valuing differences , representing our consumers
  and the market where we do business.
• What beliefs and values seem to characterize
  the way people behave in the organization?
  The driving forces in the org. are the values of
  honesty and integrity. These characteristics are the
  expectations of each individuals.
Decision making:
Incremental method;
The Coca-Cola Company makes decision by
 using incremental method.
Company decision; The company does not just quickly
decide to create a new product, or change operations.
 Find solutions: By starting at the lower levels of the
organization to find solutions
The changes brought by using the unstructured decision
making Examples; Company seek to purchase Quacker
Oats, but stopped it. It means they lack confidence in
the upper management of the company to make vital
decisions.
Management conflicts, Power
• Conflicts can be a healthy way for an organization to improve
  decision making,
• The marketing department is the most powerful subunit in
  the organization.
• The benefits derived from the power allocated to the
  marketing function
• Consumer data shows the company that one of their ideas
  would not do well, the company can decide not to produce
  that beverage.
• The strong emphasis on marketing has allowed Coca-Cola to
  become one of the most recognized brand names in the
  world,
Question:
• Given the pattern of changes made by your
  organization over time, which of the decision-
  making models best characterizes the way it
  makes decisions?
• The Coca-Cola Company uses the incremental
  method in decision making.
• Recently they used the unstructured decision-
  making model. The company surveyed 400 of
  their top managers about what they thought
  was problematic in the company.
Questions:
• What do you think are the likely sources of conflict
that may arise in your organization? Is there a history of
conflict between managers or between stakeholders?
Incompatible performance criteria and competition for
resources. If the organization creates a competitive
climate amongst the divisions,

what it would be called.

Conclusion:
• According to our personal findings all the
  management functions, approaches and
  techniques are correctly implemented
  and all the explanations given by all the
  managers are correct according to above
  mentions facts shows company is
  towards decentralization.
