with the kite right?
Anyone can draw a kite on the board?
Okay good job!
Now, try to look at the drawing and observe. What
can you say about it?
That’s right! So if it’s like a diamond, how many
sides are there in the kite?
Yes Ma’am!
( One student will draw kite)
Ma’am the kite is like diamond in shape.
It has four sides.
Alright! And if it has four sides, in what group of
geometric shape does it belong?
That’s very good answer!
The kite is a quadrilateral shape with two distinct pairs
of adjacent sides, what do you call that?
Correct!
What else do you see?
Correct!
Now, try to look at the intersecting point. What kind of
angles is formed?
Good answer!
If two lines formed right angle or measures 90 degrees,
these 2 lines are also known as what?
Very good answer!
Now, after identifying all the properties of a kite. We
will try to find the area of a kite. Okay?
Ma’am quadrilateral shape.
Congruent sides.
There is an intersecting line Ma’am!
Right angles Ma’am!
Ma’am they are also known as perpendicular
lines.
Yes Ma’am!
This is the formula we are going to use in finding the
area of a kite.
Area = ½ d1 d2
Class can you follow?
Now to satisfy each value in the given formula. We will
put labels on the kite.
Looking again to our formula, “d” stands for diagonal. In
our kite we have two diagonal lines and that is our d1 (
the longer one) and the shorter is d2.
By substituting the value in the given formula, what will
be the value of our d1?

Okay that’s right! And what will be the value of our d2?
Okay let’s try. But before that we have 3 steps to solve
the problem. What are those steps? Everybody read.
Now, by following all those steps we can now solve the
problem. Now what is the answer to our step 1?

AC = 20 cm.
Area= ½ d1 d2
= ½ ( 30 cm) (20cm)
Area = ½ (600 cm2 )

Area= ½ ( 6cm) (3cm)
= ½ (18 cm2)
= 9cm2
d1= 10cm and d2 = 5cm
