Ants are social insects of the
family Formicidae and, along with the
related wasps and bees, belong to the
order Hymenoptera. Ants evolved from wasp-like
ancestors in the mid-Cretaceous period between
110 and 130 million years ago
and diversified after the rise of flowering
plants.
Ants are the insects. They have three
body parts:-
1. Head
2. Thorax
3. Abdomen

An ant has two stomachs. One is food
for himself and the other is that which
he have to share with other ants. Ants
have six legs. There is a sharp claw at
the end of each leg, which is why the
ant does not fall off when hanging
upside down!
Ants love insects, seeds and sweet
sticky food.
Ants have 2 antennae. They use
them for touching, smelling and
hearing. Their eyes don’t work
very well.
Ants play a very important role in the
nature ecosystem. Ants causes
fermentation of dead plants and
animals enrich the soil with minerals
for better crops. In some cultures ants
are used as medicine traditionally.
Ants are used in the cultivation of
oranges in china. They also helps in
cross pollination.
There can be lots of female ants in a
nest, but there is only one Queen.
Her job is to lay eggs which the
worker ants look after. She is much
bigger than the other ants.
Ants build their home own their own.
That has lots of chambers for different
things… rubbish, foods, larvae and
babies. They are very strong as
compared to their sizes.
Most ants in a nest are workers.
They make the nest bigger, fight
enemies and carry food. At night,
the worker ants carry the eggs and
larvae deep into the ground to keep
them warm.
In some cultures like in Africa they
are thought to be god messengers
and had a great respect. According
to the native Americans, they are
thought to be the first animal on
earth. Muslims were prohibited to
killed ants and in the bible they are
the example of hard work and
cooperative team.
