- 4. Desktop App These apps can be used on a desktop or laptop. They do not need web access and run independently on a computer. To run a desktop app ,it must be installed on the desktop or laptop. The installed app is represented either by icon on the computer screen or item on the start menu. Examples: MS-Word, Excel, Paint, PowerPoint
- 5. Web Apps These apps require internet connection. They are browser based and stored on a remote server. User can access them line any other webpage. Web applications require minimum device memory as th application lies on the remote server. The app can be utilised from any devise through the internet. Examples: Google Maps, Instant Messenger etc, Pixlr.
- 6. Mobile Apps These apps run on smart phone or tablet. These apps are usually small in size as mobile devices have limited memory. Some mobile apps may come preloaded on smartphones or tablets. Mobile apps have responsive web designs to adapt to the much smaller screen sizes and orientations of mobile devices. Examples: Facebook, office mobile, games, vlc media player.

- 11. Native Apps Native apps are created for one specific platform or operating system. Native apps are built specifically for a mobile device’s operating system (OS). Thus, you can have native Android mobile apps or native iOS apps, Because they’re built for just one platform, you cannot mix and match – say, use a Blackberry app on an Android phone or use an iOS app on a Windows phone. Apps that are developed keeping device specifications in mind are known as Native Apps
- 12. A native app, as we discussed earlier, is platform specific. You will create a particular app for either iOS or Android users. Most native apps comes pre-installed on the device and can also be downloaded from play store or App store.
- 13. Hybrid App These have the features of both web Apps and Native Apps. They can be downloaded from play store or App store and installed on eh device. They need to be connected to the internet.
