INTRODUCTION…..WHAT ARE AUDIO VISUAL AIDS
• Audio visual aids comprises of three words audio visual and audio visual aids
• Audio Visual aids plays an important role in making the teaching and learning process (formal
or non formal)more interesting, effective and permanent.
• Audio Visual materials can help bringing the world into classroom.Audio Visual aids provide
powerful force in the learning process.
• Audio Aids :
Instructional device through which message can be heard but not seen
Ex: Radio, Tape Recorder, CD players etc
• Visual Aids:
Instructional device through which message can be seen but not heard
Ex: Posters Flashcards, charts.
• Audio Visual Aids:
Instructional device through which message can be heard as well seen
Ex: Television
TYPES OF VISUAL AIDS
• Visual aids are broadly classified into two main categories.
1. Projected visual aids.
2. Non-Projected visual aids
PROJECTED VISUAL AIDS.
• A projected aid is one in which item to be observed are projected on a screen using
mechanical devices.
• The various projective aids are…
1. Slide projector
2. Microfilm projector
3. Overhead projector
SLIDE PROJECTOR
• A small piece of transparent material on which
a single pictorial image or graphic image is placed
MICROFLIM PROJECTOR
• Microfilm contains photographed
• reading materials
• When the microfilm is passed through a microfilm reader then
an enlarged image is formed on the screen and the observer
can read all the matter
OVERHEAD PROJECTOR
• Over head projector is a device for projecting a matter
which is written or drawn on a transparent sheet of acetate on to a screen.
• It is very simple and easy.
NON-PROJECTED VISUAL AIDS
There are various non projected visual aids some of these commonly used aids are...
1) Charts
2) Flash cards
3) Posters
4) Models
5) Photographs /pictures
CHARTS
• Chart is defined as a visual aid which depicts pictorial
and written key information in systematic
way to summarize, compare, etc.
FLASH CARDS
• Flash cards are a set of pictured paper cards of varying sizes
that are flashed one by one in a logical sequence.
POSTERS
• Poster is a pictorial representation of an idea
or concept in striking bold colors to attract the viewer.
Posters are usually displayed out in open for the purpose
of awareness in general public.
MODELS
• If the topic that we need to explain is quite
difficult to apprehend...we prepare a model.
