- 5. WHAT IS LANGUAGE AWARENESS? • ‘A person’s sensitivity to and conscious awareness of the nature of language and its role in human life’( Donmall) • ‘An understanding of the human faculty of language and its role in thinking, learning and social life’
- 6. BACKGROUND • The concept of language awareness is not new. Van Essen, Donmall and Van lier are conceptulised this idea of Language awareness in different ways • It is closely related to the whole language movement which started in the US in the 1970

- 11. CONCLUSION • Language awareness is part of what the teachers, choose to teach. As language teacher know, there is much more to a language than simply knowing vocabulary and grammar; reproducing them in either written or oral form.
