What is Persimmon?
• Persimmons are the edible fruit of
sweet taste, yellowish-orange in
colour and considerably watery.
• They similarly vary in size from 1.5 to 9 cm
(0.5 to 4 in) in diameter, and in shape the
varieties may be spherical, acorn-, or
pumpkin-shaped
• It contains about 80 % water.
HARVESTING METHOD
• Persimmons harvested by a Sharpe clipper or a knife
• Cutting is done by leaving a short stem about 4 cm
GRADIND
• Graded and sorting done on the basis of
Size
Shape
Colour
• Grading and sorting done manually.
PACKING
• Packed into cardboard boxes ( petti ).
• Generally 54 fruit per petti.
• Covered in a paper.
