- 2. As part of using Goodwin’s theory, where by the visuals illustrate the lyrics of the song, we would like to have similar actions as the beginning of Bruno Mars’ ‘Just the way you are’ . When it says ‘two weeks ago today you were just a girl I drew’ we intend on having a sketch of our actress come to life.
- 3. These point of view shots from Tori Kelly’s video ‘Paper Hearts’ are similar to the point of view shots we would like to use when the picture of the girl comes to life. The location used for this video, however is different to the location we envision. This means that when we film it we would have more natural lighting for the shots.
- 4. By looking at other music videos from the pop genre we noticed that common locations used are beaches, and open bright places. Therefore one of the locations we aim to film at will be a beach in order to use the conventions of pop. Also, I recognized that most pop music videos include the artist with ‘friends’ as see in these screen shots from One Direction’s and Taylor Swift’s Music videos. For this reason we aim to have a location which is associated with where the friends of our artist hang out. This will match the upbeat tempo of the song, therefore helping to create an uplifting mood for the audience.

I have also looked at the image that male pop artists have given themselves and have identified that they all have very similar images; smart/casual costume, often with props such as hats and sunglasses being used. When filming our music video we will be taking this into consideration, ensuring that our artist has a similar image to other male pop artists.

In these two music videos during the editing process a filter has been added to add to the hand held filming, emphasizing that the fact that it was filmed by the artist, to show his point of view. When making my video it would be good to put a filter on the point of view shots we take. Also, in Olly Murs’ music video photo shots are used, this could be used in our music video to highlight moments between the artist and the female he is singing about, therefore emphasizing ‘us’.
