MOTIVATION
The Main thing that motivates me to want to be an active participant in our political
program is to help make this country better. It’s true what they say, “You have to play
to win!” I believe that every vote can help, and that if people want to help make an
actual difference in our country, then they have to be a part of it, stay ”in-the-know”
with politics, and vote!
I will continue to help this country by voting, and voicing my opinion when it is
needed. I think people should continue to help make this country a better place then
it already is!
WHAT SURPRISED ME THE MOST
I knew some of the laws that this country has, but I was surprised at how in-depth the
laws go. I also knew about the presidents we have had as our leaders for this country,
but I was really interested, and also surprised, when learning about how many vetoes
our presidents have had. Another thing that stuck out to me was the different
opinions our class had. I found it very interesting to read other people’s thoughts
about the different topics we were discussing in the discussions. Sometimes people
need to hear other peoples views on things, to help them see both sides of the fence!
In the future, I would like to make myself hear other peoples opinions more than I
typically do, so that I am able to see it from different perspectives!
GUNS
I believe that with recent events, the future generations should spend some time on
creating better gun regulations. Guns should never be taken from us, but people
should be required to have multiple checks like a background check that is much
further in-depth, a mental health check, and I believe that each gun owner should
have to renew all of the requirements every year whether they buy a new gun or not.
I feel that this has become a major issue in our country, not just because of school
shootings, but because of the amount of people killed by guns each day.
1ST AMENDMENT
I believe that the first amendment is the most important amendment of the 27
amendments. That being because it protects five of the most basic liberties. The five
liberties include freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press,
freedom of assembly, and freedom to petition the government to right wrongs.
Without the first amendment, there would be entirely too many things wrong with
this country. I feel the first amendment lays it all out there, and helps this country
immensely each and every day!
INFORMATION I LEARNED THAT
STUCK
I never realized how much social media impacted today’s society until I took this
course. We had a discussion over if the government should have all access to social
media, and if they should have to tell us everything and they shouldn't’t! Social media
impacts us in so many negative and positive ways, and I never saw it until taking this
course. Ever since, I have honestly stayed away from social media as much as
possible. I feel it creates drama and problems, especially political!
