Evaporation occurs when the sun heats water in rivers, lakes, or oceans, turning it into vapor or steam that leaves the water and rises into the air. Condensation is the opposite process where water vapor in the air condenses back into liquid water and falls from clouds as precipitation on the earth's surface, completing the water cycle.
