10 Resume Tips To Make
Your Resume Stand Out!
        By: CareerStaff Rx
1. Make No Mistakes
 One will hear this multiple times when creating a resume, but it is easy to
overlook small things that may impact one’s chance of getting hired. Once a
hiring manager notices a mistake they may end up throwing your resume
away without thinking twice. It is important to TRIPLE CHECK your resume
and to give it to at least two other peers for review.
2. Leave Little White Space
 For a more professional looking resume, be sure to take up as much space
as you can on the document. One line per bullet looks better than one word
per bullet. Also keeping in mind that hiring managers don’t want to read
paragraphs on a resume so it’s always best to go with bullet points
3. Recent Experience First
 Make sure your most recent job experienced comes first on your resume.
The most recent experience is the most important and what every hiring
manager looks for in a resume.
4. Objective or no Objective?
 These days, objectives on resumes aren’t in style and hiring managers may
over look them. Although they are completely fine to use, it is better to have
keywords. Instead of using an objective use the title of the job that you are
applying to at the top of the resume. This will capture the hiring mangers
attention and right off the bat they will want to look at it.
5. Use Keywords
 When applying for a job online, resumes first go through a database in
which hundreds or even thousands of resumes will be submitted. Keywords
are used to forward the resume to a recruiter which will than be forwarded
to a hiring manager. It’s crucial to use keywords in your resume that is
    related to the job.
6. Volunteer Experience
 It may not seem relevant, but hiring managers will be very impressed to see
volunteer experience and to see that you’ve been active and passionate
about helping others out. It will make your resume stand out and add more
    experience to your resume.
7. Job description
 In the job description one should not only include what they did during their
job, but how it was done, and how well. Always include numbers if you’ve
done a good job earning money for the company or bringing in customers.
8. Focus on Accomplishments
 Include in your resume anything that you have accomplished and are proud
of. Whether you are a recent graduate or still in school and want to write
down your GPA if it’s above 3.5, or any awards you have earned in your job
or at school. It is your time to showcase what you’ve achieved.
9. Personal Information
 Make sure when you write your personal information on a resume that you
include your common name, professional email, a phone number, and even
include the link to your LinkedIn profile if you have one. One thing that you
should NOT include is your physical address. This and your references can be
    provided upon request.
10. What NOT to do
 A resume is a professional showcase of your experience. It will help you land
your next job if written properly. There are many things stating what you
should do on a resume but you hardly hear about the things that one
shouldn’t do on a resume. One thing is to make sure your font is clear and
easy to read. Don’t add any cutesy font’s as this is a professional resume.
Never print your resume on brightly colored paper. Remember that one
should never make jokes or add in any smiley faces on a resume.
Lastly, don’t list your personal opinions or views on a resume, which may
create tension if the hiring manager doesn’t agree with your personal
opinions and it isn’t something that one should add into a resume.
