Introduction

This is a work of fiction in which a young man named Barak understands, through various
experiences, the mystery of unleashing his talent thereby making him a better person in his life.

Every person knows several good quotations and consistently have them in their memory,
in fact they use them in their communications, both written and oral. In addition to these we
keep learning about fresh ideas and new quotations constantly in our life. But, are we genuinely
able to understand the true meaning of these quotations and are able to utilize these in our
lives? In reality, most of the people generally do not understand the correct meaning of these
great words and are not able to apply the actions recommended by the intended meaning in
quotations. Some people, who are able to take the first step in implementing the message in
their lives, usually do not achieve results due to half- hearted efforts.

Every person wants to improve as it is a necessary element to get success in life. It is to be
noted that self-improvement is not simple; it requires considerable motivation and commitment
for execution to bring necessary changes in life. This complexity brings resistance in the
people’s behavior for the implementation of the idea and they find innovative ways and excuses
to escape the message of the quotation. Several times a transformative change, in the life of a
person, may starts with pain before brining any pleasure. Several people must have experienced
this phenomenon.

A classic quotation is believed to be delivering a right message. A quotation is time tested
and is evolved over time with experiences of the various people in different generations. A
good quotation delivering a right message would add a certain value in the life of an individual,
thereby making him happier. Its value addition would create its advocates, who would spread
it to other individuals. Over time it would become immortal. In contrast, a wrong quotation
cannot deliver true value consistently and would fail to create its advocates to support its life,
making it weak and eventually it would die and forgotten.
This work of fiction is the story of Barak, who learns about a quotation in his life and
sincerely implements it in his life. The meaning of the quotation can be simple but to execute in
life may take extraordinary efforts, sincerity and energy. Thought he was able to understand the
true meaning of the quotation, but was he able to understand the complete meaning of the
quotation? This is an important point for reflection that sometimes we may understand the right
interpretation of the message, but we miss out on the completeness of the meaning implied by
the quotation.

Another important point for consideration is consistency of efforts to bring the positive
change in life. Normally success is never immediate and it blesses an individual only after
certain number of failures. People tend to lose hope after few failed attempts, instead every next
attempt should be with enhanced vigor. Any right change in habit or attitude would add
substantial value in life, making it better and enriched. Even a minute change can turn the
direction of life taking it towards greatness.

This story illustrates the strength of a simple quotation and the value which it can add to
our life, if implemented sincerely and appropriately. Several great quotations are waiting to add
extensive value to every individual, who is ready to utilize them for her advancement. The
purpose of the story is to convince the reader about her unused potential which could catapult
the life of a person to much higher levels.

Without any delay we should write all the classic quotations which we know with an
intention to implement those in our lives. Based on our constraints and context we can find
right ways to implement and incorporate them in our life, one by one. It may be difficult
initially but with time we can experience and appreciate the value associated with it.
Barak – The Kid in School

Barak saw himself standing alone in the desert.

“How I got here? What is this happening?” He thought, without getting any answer from
anywhere.

He looked up and found sun at full strength, producing heat and light. He could feel the heat
on his head and body. Looking down he found that he is barefoot, wearing nothing on his feet,
but he was standing firmly on the hot sand. Confused, he looked around, it was all sand, a sea
of sand. It looked that his mind is not fully functional, maybe because of heat. Not able to gauge
any direction, as the sun was on top in the sky, he started walking towards his right side. He
was feeling thirsty and had nothing except the clothes on his body. He was not able to properly
walk forward as the hot sand was holding his foot in each step. He was also extremely tired.
But, he continued to walk forward, hoping to understand something about his location.

Suddenly, he found that he is stuck in the sand and is knee deep in it. He tried his best to pull
himself out, but he could not. The harder he tried, deeper he got into sand. Now his thighs were
also inside the sand and only upper half of his body was visible outside.

“What is happening? Is this quick sand which buries people alive? Why is this happening to
me? How should I save myself?” His mind was completely engaged “I should try harder.”

Panicked, he utilized his full force to come out. He tried to use his hands to get support from
ground to pull himself up, but the sand had low density and was unable to provide any support
to his hands. Now he was waist deep in sand, he was extremely tired and wanted to rest.
Without losing hope he started moving his whole body vigorously, hoping to loosen the grip of
sand on his body. He was pushing sand down with his hands, trying to get some support to
pull himself out. He found that his hands are stuck in the sand and he is not able to move them
too. He was completely trapped in sand and was slowly inching down. He wanted to cry for
help but no one was there. He was feeling helpless and weak.
“Am I going to die like this? No, this cannot happen. I should do something.”

He was thinking about the way to survive, suddenly, he felt that something is holding his feet
and pulling him down. He saw his movement down and could feel the consistently increasing
pressure of sand on his body.

Instinctively he stated shouting “Help, help. Somebody help me. I am stuck in sand.”

He was crying and helplessly looking at his stuck body which was unable to move. Shouting at
his full strength he started shaking his head vigorously. He closed his eyes.

“Aaah!” Barak woke up with sigh and pain in his head. He immediately sat by taking support
on wall. At once, he could not understand anything.

“It was this nightmare, again.” he felt relieved.

He looked at his watch; it was 04:25 AM. As night lamp was on he could see things around him.
He turned towards his right to search for the bottle of water which he always kept on the small
table near his bed. He drank water and tried to relax. He knew that he will not be able to sleep
after this nightmare, as has been happening for past several months.

He was getting nightmares once or twice every week for last seven months and each was a
painful experience, including today. He never got nightmares in his life except last seven
months, in which he had plenty.

Barak has always been a good and successful person all his life. He looked back in his life which
has been a successful story. He was forty two years old and during this time he had several
experiences, mostly good and few bad. He was a good student in his school days.
