Project-Library Management System
Introduction-
Background of Library project-
 Library ManagementSystemis an application which refers to
library systems which are generallysmall or medium in size. It is
used by librarian to manage the library using a computerized system
where he/she can recordvarious transactions like issue of books,
return of books, addition of new books, addition of new students etc.
 Books andstudent maintenance modules are also included in this
system which would keeptrack of the students using the library and
also a detailed description about the books a library contains. With
this computerized system there will be no loss ofbook recordor
member record which generallyhappens when a non computerized
system is used.
 In addition, report module is also included in Library Management
System. If user’s position is admin, the user is able to generate
different kinds of reports like lists of students registered, list of
books, issue and return reports.
All these modules are able tohelp librariantomanage the library with
more convenience and ina more efficient way as comparedto library
systems whichare not computerized.
 Purpose-The Purpose of this application are as follow
 The software is for automation of library.
 It provide following facilities to.
Operator-
 Can enter details related to a particular book.
 Can provides membership to member.
Admin-
 Can read and write information about any member.
 Can update,delete,create the record of membership as per the
requirement and implementation.
Scope-The different areas where we can use this application are:-
 Any education institute can make use of it for providing
information about author content of the available books
 It can be used in office,colleges and modification can be easily
done according to requirement.
Assumption-
 Costumized data will be used in this application.
 User does not have right to enter information about books.
Overview-
 Project is related to library management system.which provides
reading service to its member of the library by filling a
prescribed form.
Functionality-
 Online membership.
 Keeps the task of issue and submission of books.
Feasibilty of Study- In Feasibilty study phase we had undergone
through various steps which are described as under.
 Identify at Orgin of the information at different level.
 Identify the expectation of user from computized system .
 Analyze the draw back of existing system
DRAWBACKS OF PRESENT SYSTEM
Some of the problems being faced in manual system
are as
follows:
1. Fast report generation is not possible.
2. Tracing a book is difficult.
3. Information about issue/return of the books are not
properly maintained.
4. No central database can be created as information is
not available in database.
Working Of the Present Menual System
 The staff of library are involved in the following tasks.
Membership Process-
 Person have to fill membership form they are provide with
member id.
Proposed system-
 There will be three major component.
 Stock Maintanance.
 Transaction Entry.
 Report.
Proposed system Provides Following solution-
i. It provides “Better and Efficent “ service to Member.
ii. Reduce the workload of employee.
iii. Faster retrieval of information about the desired book.
iv. Provide facility For Proper Monitoring reduce paper work
and provide data security.
v. All details will be available on CHECK.

Controlling the access tothe database provides security tothe
system.

The systemis online 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
