The MINKE project aims to integrate key European marine metrology research infrastructures to coordinate their use and development. It will identify essential ocean variables to monitor like temperature, salinity, and pollutants. The project will adopt a framework to improve data quality by minimizing measurement errors, incomplete data, and timeliness of observations. It will provide transnational access to calibration laboratories and ocean observatories. It will also offer virtual access to services for participatory monitoring using low-cost technologies. The goal is to improve ocean observations to better understand issues like climate change, biodiversity, and marine litter.
