Good Morning!
Please DO NOW:
 pick up your lab notebook
 pick up a copy of PTG 2.4 (a
worksheet)
 sit down and get out a pen or pencil
Today we will:
 “de-brief” the lab from Monday
 practice our new understandings
Projectile
Motion
How does initial
velocity affect the
path of a projectile?
Initial Velocity
As we learned Monday, initial
velocity has no effect on the
“hang time” of ANY projectile.
That doesn’t mean initial
velocity has NO effect on
anything, however.
How does initial velocity affect
the path of a projectile?
 What do you think? Think back to
when you varied the speed of the
aquarium stone with the launcher.
What effect did increasing the
speed have?
How does initial velocity affect
the path of a projectile?
The greater the initial horizontal
speed, the farther the projectile will
travel.
We call this distance in the x “range”
Range: the distance a projectile
travels in the x direction
What motion would happen in the y?
