Proposal 1 Working Title: CANNY (the quality of having or showing good powers ofjudgement) This title was decideduponbecause it’s a trendyabbreviation, of whichappeals to younger audiencesand it makes sense alongside the context of the magazine, as it gives readers the knowledge to decide upona piece ofaffordable technologysuitedto their needs, which inturn shows good powers of judgement to those aroundyou. What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later Audience: My audience demographic will range between 16-20 year olds seeing as this is the age group whom I’ll be receiving critical feedback from in my class,butalso because this is an age at which this group can be considered as young professionals ofthe media world,who could reallyutilise the affordable technology reviewed in this magazine for their amateur work.On top of this my primarygender demographic will lean more so to the masculine side,seeing as its easier for myselfto appeal to a group closer to my own specifications.That’s notto say females are at all excluded from the conversation,however If these products appeal to myselfI would believe they would also appeal to people similar to myself,therefore I decided upon said gender in closer similarityto my own. Leading on from this,the social status Iwish to aim my product towards are the middle class,seeing as the products I’ll be reviewing will be in the price range of this specific group.Whereas such products will be far harder to attain for the working class with a lesser income and the upper class won’tbe looking for affordable technologyof which I’ll be reviewing, but rather they’ll be after far more pristine items which are notexactly affordable for a large percentage of main stream audience members;therefore middleclass fits justnicelyin this particular category, with the products athand being affordable to their level of social status. Finally,I believe this product would bestappeal to achievers,because they show a willingness to educate themselves upon technologywhich would better improve their lives and take them to the next level, where they can eventually upgrade their equipmentto fit their higher standards of living, with this magazine merelybeing a gateway to reach this new level. Rationale: I’ve taken on valuable knowledge over the pastmonths,from both level 3 and level 2 in which I achieved a distinction lastyear. From this I believe I’ve learned to sufficientlyadept myselfat managing an array of editing software,from adobe premiere to the one which will be used to edita majority of this product, being Photoshop. With these acquired skills Iwill be able to improve upon how my layered images flow in unison, which will keep the imageryaestheticallypleasing to the eye and I will be able to neatly work around said imagerywith the article itself,keeping the whole picture clean and simple.This simplistic elementis not easy to create, yet through my acquired skill setI believe I can make this crucial feature work smoothly,which will work alongside the ‘user-friendly’ design choices ofmodern manufacturers. Project Concept: The conceptfor my productis a tech magazine which speaks on technologyfor the everyday consumer (like myself),with each piece of equipmentthat’s reviewed being in myown possession,meaning the honestyof the review is automaticallyescalated to new heights seeing as I’ve used them myselfon an everyday basis.I will speak upon technologyfrom both ends of the spectrum,from products which are essential in myeveryday life, to ones which prove little to no use at all. Furthermore, I will include a section in which I talk about a random,yet useful piece oftechnology placed in my household ofwhich a reader wouldn’ttend to expect, improving on the surprising elementofthe magazine and somewhatdifferentiating myselffrom mainstream magazines ofa similar calibre.On top of that, I will include mock-up advertisements throughoutmymagazine making itappear realistic from an external point of view, which will in turn engross consumers in the product even more so.I will also include an array of vibrant colours around the magazine,from the cover to the inside spread,which will massivelyimprove upon the enticing factor of the product, giving those outside the audience demographic a reason ofwhich to pick up the magazine. Evaluation: I will evaluate my projectby deciding upon elements thatdidn’tfunction in the way that I wanted them too, or sections which took up a large portion of my time,which could have been used elsewhere and or structured differently. From there I will make notes of these features,so when it comes to creating a product of a similar concept/design in the future, I will be aware of what aspects work and which ones don’t. These gathered editing skills will then translate over to future projects,which will in turn improve on how each turns out, bettering my overall grades in the process.
