Proposalfor print advert:
Name of Film:Working title: Indelible. Wechose thisas the very
meaning of the word is leaving marksand scarsthat can’t be
removed. Thisis symbolic of our FGM idea as it’sa traumatic
experiencethat tendsto emotionallyscar people.
Tagline of Film:At the moment, theoptions are…
 It’s a chainreaction
 It’s a never ending cycle
 Memoriesarelike scars, they never fade away
 Some woundslast forever
 It’s permanent
Production Name:Grim productions
Medium:Print Advert
Format:Print/ landscape
Target Audience:15 to late 30s
Content of the advert:
Concept 1: Our print advert will containanimageof a tattered doll in
a close-up shot, in a tight frameattached topuppeteer strings. We’ll
see twolarge handson the top of the poster controlling thesestrings
with the doll slumped at the end. We’ve chosen to have a doll in the
poster to illustrateour film will revolve around a child. The poster will
be darker on thetop, using low-key lighting to hint to the audience
the person controlling the stringsisthe antagonist and iscontrolling
the protagonist inthefilm. The doll will be madefrom fabric and will
have darkhair, wearing a blackand white dress. The top will be black
to show whatever the antagonist hasdone to the protagonistis
influencing her, forcing her to giveinto her past darkness, whereas
the bottom of the dress will be whiteto symbolize innocenceand
purityas well as createanidea of a fight betweendarkness and light.
There will be stainsof blood on the bottom of her dress to hint at our
FGM idea. The colour of the stringsis going to be red connoting
danger and violence. The doll will use a direct mode of addresswith
an emotionless, straightface, almost as a cry for help, as a symbol of
the littlegirl in our film. The titleof thefilm will be in capitalletters
at the bottom of the poster, placed in the middle. The taglinewill be
slanted, in smaller font, embedded intothe puppeteer strings.
Publishing of the advert:We’regoing to use above the line
advertising. Theadvert will be shown on several social media
platformssuch as Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. Thisis because
the younger sideof our target audiencetend touse Snapchatand the
older side use Facebook. They all equally use Instagram regularly.
What is your Unique Selling Point? Our product focuseson a
real life issue that’son the rise. FGM is highly concentrated inAfrica,
Asia and the MiddleEast. Our narrativeisdifferent as it challenges
Todorov’s theory of equilibrium being restored at theend; in contrast
to thisour film ends on disequilibrium.
Competitivemarket: Working title, Warner bros, Blumhouse,
hammer horror as they all target thesame audienceasus. Their
horror posters follow the typicalconventions. Their are very dark and
sinister, which we aim to makeours like. For exampleWarner Bros
Annabelle’s poster also containsa doll/ their maincolours arered
and blackjust like our poster. However ours is unique aswe have the
puppeteer idea going on, instead of the doll just sitting inthe frame.
