TASK 9 FORMAL PROPOSAL Title of magazine I have chosen to name my magazine Reconnect; this is because it’s short and catchy, also has connotations of linking things together, trying to connect with the audience. I believe the title is quit quirky and different, therefore should attract a new audience, I want the audience to connect with the magazine and also relate to the artists, e.g style, gossip and music. Choice of genre I have chosen hip hop/pop music as my genre. This genre is my favourite genre of music and I have always been interested from a young age. This genre has always inspired me in my music writing myself, and also dance. I am a big fan of hip hop and pop music, as I have a general knowledge about it, and read or listen to it in my everyday life. My Target audience My hip hop/pop music stereotypical audience would be a 16-24 year old male or female who is interested in hip hop/pop music; my research has given me chance to figure out where there is a gap in the market for my magazine and be corrected to the right audience. I would ideally like to use band of my cover to open the target audience and therefore not have a 1 sex, attracting the other. Initial ideas for Front Cover For my front cover, I am planning to use a long shot of a band or a medium close of a young attractive female artist. I would like the model/s to be dressed vibrantly and sexy to have the “sex appeal to attract the audience” and also have the connotations of the genre. The front cover is going to be bright and fun to link to hip hop and pop music. Furthermore for the sell lines, I would like it to be related to the artist on the front cover, latest fashion trends and current hip hop/pop artist. Initial ideas for My Contents page My contents page is going to have a large masthead and contents page title to make the page clear. Also have 2 main images, one of the band or artist on the front cover and also an image of another artist in the magazine to give the audience an insight, to what they are going to read. I will also place all the features which will be categorized and clear to understand with bold page numbers. The colour scheme of the front cover will be linked with the contents page and therefore portray the genre, and how “fun, bright, sexy” hip hop and pop music really is. Initial ideas for my article For the double page spread, I am planning on having a large long shot of the main cover artist/s, and on the left hand side, the text will feature a interview about the artist, and how there life has changed, number hits, gossip and relationships.
