Throughout my undergraduate years I experimented with the application of knowledge. Encouraging that work ethic of my
classmates placed me in a few uncomfortable situations with a small batch of advisors. Nonetheless, battles are to be along the journey
of a humanitarian. I seek to effectively design programs, literature, and limitless factors that will affect the future actions and attitudes
towards union and education.

OUR MISSION AND PURPOSE
* Let us grow a population of students committed to
artistically expressing themselves - academically striving
for the following objectives:

* Assist in the campus-wide effort of increasing
retention, academic and graduation rates.

* Promote even leisure learning in prominent subjects.

* Collectively inspire a more knowledgable and uniﬁed
leader.

* Produce culturally respectful artful expressions.

* Serve as investors of our future.

* Develop an understanding for humanitarian character
and ACTION

Purposefully, I illustrate and capture the moments of the leaders of our time right here at Texas Southern University. I dare to
work with those that are often overlooked and in a sense driven away from their education. Their claim at times is that those in
position that cannot relate to them. Well, we can no longer afford to loose the students interest for reasons surely preventable for we
have come a long way. I respect the vision of Dr. Rudley, and I use my education, experience, and talents to assist in positively building
the student population of TSU Now. Returning to Texas Southern to earn a Masters in Urban Planning and Environmental Policy is
a goal of mine and I take the students and organizations I choose to involve myself with of importance to conquering this goal.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
FOR DESTINI MILES

! Earning a bachelors in Business Marketing, allowed me to study the elements of presentation and the
methodology of research. Meeting the requirements of accomplishing such, was not quick nor easy. Throughout this
time, I was often led to reflect on the unsettling feeling of disconnection and judgement placed on people sharing the
similarities of my background. We are those individuals that diligently and respectfully serve an urban community
often misjudged. I was raised and educated in this community. I can relate to the issues and see the possibilities
thereof of representatives in and from this community. Observing what I see as a flood of negative imagery and
epidemic of settlement to strike this community, inspires me to intensify my efforts of leading unification and
positively influencing future leaders of this community. To began my research and practice at Texas Southern, with
this talented array of students, would be the greatest gift. I can completely relate to many of their stories, actions,
and reactions. I began my college experience off ill-informed, misunderstanding how to assess and participate in the
various opportunities of life. Returning to school the first time, allowed me the opportunity to approach situations in
a more knowledgable and wiser manner. I’ve noticed that outcomes have been enhanced.
Familiarizing myself with the legalities and methods of legally approaching, communicating, and effectively
managing issues of significance within my community of interest is of significance. To my understanding, expression
in this statement will assist in validating my acceptance to return to Texas Southern and study Urban Planning and
Environmental Policy. To be honest, I would rather my traceable contributions to the student body be of aid in that
decision more so than mere words. My design of leadership is to exemplify the courage, dedication, and discipline it
takes to live out your purpose and to display cohesiveness should be of particular interest to you. I will not only
contribute as a scholar but a respectable position holder also. I am currently assisting various individuals to connect
our efforts and earnestly position our institution.
.I challenge myself to skillfully design methodology that will theorize solutions to pressing issues of
representatives of and or in the urban population. I have began writing and recording material for an organization I
plan to launch right here at Texas Southern. It is through my efforts with this program, Mixed 101, that I hope to
serve as a catalyst of direction and inspiration to our rich student population. Actively building towards purpose
fulfilling paths is deserving of scholarship, access, and support. In this season of cultivation, the efforts of visionaries
and exemplification of positive and mature change is significant. I genuinely seek to lead this cluster of individuals
for I am in admiration of their strength and potential. My request is that the support, advice, and acceptance of
those in the position of enabling these works to full fruition is given.

believe I have a responsibility of serving the student population of my Alma Mater and if you believe the same, can you

need letters of recommendations to earn scholarship rewards to pay for graduate school and I need recommendations to be
supplied to personnel so that I may possibly gain a position at Texas Southern. I believe in myself enough to not be hesitant in
declaring myself as a considerable asset to encouraging the efforts of students on our campus. I genuinely desire the
opportunity to research, consult, direct, and encourage implementation of current and future innovative efforts of our students.
Collectively, we can strengthen the output of representatives from and or in the urban community.
