This document discusses public space as a catalyst for change and strategies for improving urban qualities. It describes a research project led by JUUL|FROST Architects on this topic, with support from RealDania. The project takes a cross-disciplinary approach involving sociologists, architects, and others. It analyzes how the city, its spaces, activities, and the human body interact in urban space. Case studies of public spaces in Dublin and Barcelona are presented that use performative design to attract and direct flows of people in the space.
