This document summarizes different types of pupil evaluations: static evaluations measure pupil size under constant conditions while dynamic evaluations measure pupil size changes in response to stimulus changes. It describes direct light response testing which involves shining light in one eye and observing the pupil size change in that eye. It also describes indirect/consensual response testing, which involves shining light in one eye and observing the pupil size change in the other eye. Finally, it discusses pupillary near response testing, which involves having a patient shift focus between distant and near targets and observing resulting pupil size changes.
