This document discusses the use of photovoltaic (PV) systems to generate electricity from sunlight. PV systems convert sunlight directly into electricity and can power applications in both remote areas that lack electricity access as well as utility-scale generation. Examples shown include powering homes, lights, signs, navigational aids, water pumps, and more in locations all over the world. PV is particularly useful for powering remote applications and off-grid needs where connecting to electricity transmission infrastructure would be difficult or uneconomical.
