Jesse - Politics and Philosophy • Gaining tangible data analysis skills which you can begin to put into practice during the internship • Placed at YouGov’s Political Team, London • Having this experience to put on my CV, and feeling confident about discussing this at length. • Being able to begin to use a quantitative approach to my dissertation, whereas before I had not even considered that.

Becky – Politics and Sociology • Placed at Department for Education, London • The internship persuaded me to choose 'Changing Social Attitudes' (3rd-year course) and I am finding the data analysis work so much easier than I did in second year • I chose Q-Step to try something new … to give me an idea of what I might want to do when I graduate. I got more out of it than I could have imagined - improving my analytical skills and seeing how a government department works from the inside

Viktoriya – Social Anthropology and Criminology • The BASS degree teaches qualitative and quantitative skills and helps you to consider the same social issues and theories from different perspectives • The really wide range of courses opens up future careers • Q-step really gave me confidence • Placed at University College London Research Team • I did not expect to be given so much responsibility. But on the second day I was asked if I would be second author on an academic paper ….I felt really scared …but I did my best and things worked out really well!
