when it comes to stereotyping.
• However, it is important to
know that even though
stereotypes are not always
accurate and can be highly
offensive, it is important to
recognise that they do stem
from some sort of truth.
• Example: Indians

Task: watch and discuss
Different cultural stereotypes in the media are often depicted through
humour. Discuss why.
Divide your sheets into four. Discuss the stereotypes present in each clip
Drama task: represent and challenge
the stereotype
• In small groups, you will be provided with a cultural stereotype
• 5minutes: mind map three key stereotypes you want to act
out
• 10minutes: rehearse your scene ready to present to the rest
of the group
• 5minutes: prepare a speech/a few notes to deliver at the end
suggesting why and how you represented cultural stereotypes
and challenged them.
