people of the East.

B. Job was a very wealthy man – the greatest of
all the people of the East.
C. Job is known for his patience &
perseverance - James 5:10-11 My brethren,
take the prophets, who spoke in the name of
the Lord, as an example of suffering and
patience. 11 Indeed we count them blessed
who endure. You have heard of the
perseverance of Job and seen the end
intended by the Lord--that the Lord is very
compassionate and merciful.
JOB
D.In spite of his riches. Job was a very
righteous man.
E. This is in contrast to what Jesus said in
the New Testament - Matthew 19:23-
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples,
"Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a
rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a
camel to go through the eye of a needle
than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of
God.”
I. Job was BLAMELESS.
A.This word does not refer to sinless
perfection but to the fact that Job

III. Job was one who FEARED GOD.
A.In the OT context this refers to a man who
had a reverential trust of God coupled with
a hatred for evil.
B.Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the
conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God
and keep His commandments, For this is
man's all. 14 For God will bring every work
into judgment, Including every secret
thing, Whether good or evil.

Job SACRIFICED for his children
A. After his sons had feasted - Job 1:4-5 And his sons
would go and feast in their houses, each on his
appointed day, and would send and invite their
three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 So it
was, when the days of feasting had run their
course, that Job would send and sanctify them,
and he would rise early in the morning and offer
burnt offerings according to the number of them
all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have
sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job
did regularly.
B. Under the patriarchal system the oldest head of
the family was responsible for the family.
C. Hebrews 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually

A. After Satan had caused the loss of all his possessions
& children - Job 1:20-22 Then Job arose, tore his
robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground
and worshiped. 21 And he said: "Naked I came from
my mother's womb, And naked shall I return there. The
LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed
be the name of the LORD." 22 In all this Job did not sin
nor charge God with wrong.
B. After he was afflicted by Satan with boils from head to
toe - Job 2:9-10 Then his wife said to him, "Do you still
hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!" 10 But
he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish
