This research aims to compare the perceived functional mobility of manual and power wheelchair users when participating in their community. A literature review found that wheelchairs, community integration, and adaptive technology can impact community participation and psychosocial and physical health. The study will survey manual and power wheelchair users using the Functional Mobility Assessment to measure their perceived functional performance. It hypothesizes that manual wheelchair users will perceive higher functional mobility and that adaptive technology increases community participation. The independent variable is wheelchair type and dependent variable is perceived functional mobility.
