- 3. ALL • All + plural countable: “all animals” • All + uncountable: “all fruit” POSITION IN THE SENTENCE: 1. Before the noun:“all animals looked sad” 2. Noun + all + main verb: “the animals all looked sad” 3. After “to be”: “the animals are all sad”
- 4. ALL • All + noun = general “all flowers are beautiful” • All (of) the + noun = specific “all (of) the flowers in this garden are beautiful” • All of + object pronoun “all of them are beautiful” • All + subject pronoun “all she says is the same”
- 5. ALL • “All enjoyed the party” = WRONG – “Everybody enjoyed the party” – “All of them enjoyed the party” • All + time expressions “all day” = continuously “all the day”
- 6. EVERY • Every + singular countable noun “Every seat was taken” • Every + time expressions = how often sth happens “You’re wearing a different outfit every day”
- 7. MOST (= the majority) • Most + noun = general “Most problems have a solution” • Most of the + noun = specific “Most of the problems we had were solved” • Most of + object pronoun “Most of them have a solution”

- 9. NO • No + noun + positive verb “There were no shops open” “We have no information” “No cigarette is completely harmless”
- 10. ANY • Any + noun + negative verb “There weren’t any shops open” • Any (without noun) + negative verb “Did you have some milk? There wasn’t any!” • Any / anything / anyone… + positive verb = = it doesn’t matter what, who, when… “I’m so hungry! I could eat anything”
- 11. NONE • None of + pronoun/noun “This money is all yours. None of it is mine” “None of the shops were open” • None + positive verb “All the tickets have been sold. There are none” “Did you buy milk? There’s none in the fridge” • In short answers “How much money do you have? None”
