Questionnaire Feedback
& Results.
Question 1 :What Is Your
Gender?
My reason for asking this question is based
on the fact that I need to know if any
conventions or elements favouring either
gender should be implemented in my
media product. From this it is clear that for
my target audience there is no set gender
and I will therefore in my media product
find ways in which to ensure both genders
are catered for.
Question 2: How Old Are You?
The age range was important to explore
as especially in an age conscious
society I wanted to make sure the
content of my product was
appropriate as well as entertaining for
my audience as different age groups
social interests vary. The ages that were
most frequent in this questionnaire were
those aged under 18 and 18-25.
Although this is a young age group
these highlight years of adolescence
and entering adulthood I can display
elements of explicitly as well as explore
topics that this age group go through in
order to connect and relate to them.
These results could be based on the fact that I
mainly handed my results out to individuals within a
college environment
Question 3 : What Is Your
Occupation?A small scale of this evidence can be gained
from question 2 about age as majority of the
individuals are students or in part time
employment which generates the ideas that
there maybe individuals that are in education
and at the time are involved with a job.
Students are highly occupied by a vast
workload and therefore may not have a lot of
time for paid employment. This allows me to
also ensure that due to them being quiet low
on the social grade scale I will then have to
make sure they can afford my media products
including the digi pak.
Question 4: Do You Watch
Music Videos?
Yes
No
Majority of those who took part stated
‘yes’ to watching music videos . This
gave me insight and reassurance that
audiences do take interest in music
videos and therefore would watch
mine also. Despite this their was a
percentage that didn’t and this could
be due to lack of excitement gained
from them or potentially just wanting to
listen to the song as well as lack of
awareness of them. I will therefore
ensure that my promotional products
are entertaining and that I implement
all effective promotional methods.
Question 5 : How Often Do
You Watch Music Videos?
This question lets me understand the
habits of audiences in watching
music videos. From this it states that it
is weekly in which majority of
individuals watch music videos.
However I want to produce a
product in which is viewed much
regularly and I will therefore assure
that the entertainment factor is
increased to immense levels.
Despite this there was a small
majority who equally watched music
videos daily as well as monthly but
my general aim was to increase
habits to daily.
Daily
Monthly
Weekly
Never
Anually
Question 6 : Where Do You Find
Out About Music Videos?
YouTube is shown to be the
prominent place in which people
find out about music videos.
The 3 other websites following
YouTube are Twitter , iTunes and
soundcloud. From this source of
information my media product will
be provided on all these sites vitally
including YouTube to increase the
views as well as the awareness of
the song.
Twitter which is one of the fastest
developments of web 2.0 will be
placed through my artists twitter
page where audiences can share
the knowledge of the song by
tweeting about it as well as
retweeting it. This provides clear evidence to the idea
that music channels are dying out.
Platforms such as YouTube and Vevo are
rapidly taking precedence.
Question 7: What Genre Of
Music Do You Prefer To Listen?
Both Hip Hop and R&B music are the
most liked genres. Therefore the
soundtrack used will be one that
consists of elements of both genres in
which is highly common as many
musical directors and radio jockeys
have stated that in this modern urban
culture the line between these genres
have become blurred. Although rock
has a high percentage in the initial
stages my group and I had already
planned to use a R&B song.
Question 8: Do You Prefer A Music Video
To Be Shot In Multiple Locations Or Just
One Location?
Multiple locations seem to captivate
audiences more due to the range of
differing visuals. This is a questions that
allows me to be able to cater to my
audiences in terms of providing elements
in my music video that they favour.
Multiple Locations
Single Locations
Question 9: Has A Music Video
Lead You To Download A Song?
The importance of this information
links to music videos playing a huge
role in leading audiences to buy and
download a song as no one
responded by saying no. This
reinforces the idea that my music
video must be extremely engaging
and entertaining as by doing this
audiences will like the video leading
and encouraging them to purchase
the song or the album. Overall the
music video must have an admirable
impact on audiences.
Question 10 : What Do You
Enjoy Seeing In Music Videos?
The two main answers asking audiences
what they enjoyed seeing in music videos
was live performances as well as thought
provoking elements. This provides
evidence that they like to gain an instant
connection as well as a relationship with
the song and video. As part of the initial
staging of planning my music video my
group and I planned to create a
performance based music and this
questionnaire reassures me that this will be
highly favoured by audiences.
story telling
Live performance
Dance Routines
Comical elements
Serious thought

Qualitative Data:
The data received from my questionnaire lacks in depth answers such as the reasons for
some of the responses they selected I therefore took to social media sites including twitter ,
Facebook and survey monkey to ask more questions that would help me in catering to the
needs of my audience.
This question provided me with
more insight into information
about genres. A lot of the answers
provided were to do with how the
music acted as an positive
emotional function for the
individual including motivation ,
calming , clearing ones mind and
numerous others. This gravitated
me towards the idea of ensuring
that my R&B song had to instil and
pull on emotions.
Qualitative Data:
This would act in informing me in what particular things needed to be added to help boost the
entertainment factor as it asked about individuals favourite music videos were along with why
they liked it. Numerous elements were brought forward to my attention including:
• Interesting locations
• Intriguing storylines and concepts
• Technical aspects of editing
I will ensure a good amount of each of these elements are portrayed within my media product to
keep audiences captivated.
Qualitative Data:
• Majority of the artists in which are displayed are R&B artists which already matches the
genre I plan to pursue for my music video. I looked at some of the relevance to the
answers given:
An artist that maintains
their relevance and
staying current . This
may range from
consistently releasing
music or music videos.
There two responses
express the importance of
the lyrics to audiences
therefore the song in which
I choose will be one that
explores lyrics with deep
meaning.
