Quotation marksESSENTIAL QUESTION   WHY do we use quotation marks?Share with a partner and write an example on your whiteboard.
Quotation marks are used:To punctuate titles and to set off speaker’s exact words. Remember they always come in pairs(Write an example on your whiteboard for each of the following)To punctuate titles We sang “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” in music class.
Before and after spoken words“What’s that?”, I asked.Take your Self Selected Book and identify quotations in your book.Talk to a partner the reason why quotations are used in those cases.
