Vector displays draw lines specified by endpoints, while raster displays use an array of pixels to form images. Vector displays only draw lines and characters, whereas raster displays can display solid colors and patterns. Additionally, vector displays directly control the electron beam of a CRT and do not require scan conversion hardware, allowing the images to scale to any size without quality loss. In contrast, raster displays use scan lines and may experience distortion and aliasing when zoomed.

- 3. Raster Display Raster displays, typically have an array of addressable dots called as pixels , which can be individually set to a particular color or intensity, which together forms an image. OMega TechEd
- 4. Vector Display Vector displays generally display lines specified by their endpoints. Vector display systems operate by direct control of the electron beam of a cathode ray tube. (CRT) OMega TechEd
- 5. Comparison Vector Display Raster Display They are composed of pixels. Raster display has ability to display areas filled with solid colors or patterns. They are composed of paths. Vector display only draws lines and characters. OMega TechEd

- 7. Comparison Vector Display Raster Display Scan conversion hardware is required. Distorted after Zooming. Aliasing is the jagged appearance of primitives as displayed on a raster device. This phenomenon is also known as “the jaggies”. Scan conversion hardware is not required. Vector graphics can be scaled to any size without losing quality. i.e absence of aliasing. OMega TechEd

- 9. Comparison Vector Display Raster Display Cost is low. Used for display purpose. Raster graphics file formats are JPEG, GIF and PNG. Cost is more. Used for Printing purpose. Vector graphics are commonly found today in the SVG,EPS and PDF OMega TechEd
