John Steinbeck was an American author born in 1902 in Salinas, California. He is best known for his novels The Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men. Many of his works were set in California during the 1930s and explored themes of the Great Depression, migrant workers, friendship, and family. Of Mice and Men, published in 1937, tells the story of two migrant workers and tackles issues surrounding their lives and the economic difficulties of the time period.
