TESTING SENTENCE COMPREHENSION
• There is no need to test comprehension of an
essay if students still have difficulty in
understanding a sentence. Sentence
comprehension must precede essay
comprehension.

TESTING PARAPHRASING THE WHOLE SENTENCE
• Context Selection What can be the context of
our reading texts? Beside the usual articles
and stories, there may be advertisements,
want ads, business and social letters, drivers's
licence and loan applications, bank
statements, rental and sales agreements and
mail orders catalogs. Other reading metarials
may iclude texts from other classes at school
such as biology, history or chemistry.
