This document describes the design and implementation of a real-time network monitoring system. The system allows a network administrator to monitor network resources in real-time from both client and server interfaces. It was developed using a waterfall software engineering model and uses technologies like Java, MySQL, and Linux to enable cross-platform functionality with low hardware requirements. Testing was conducted and future enhancements are proposed to expand the system's monitoring capabilities.

Scope: The Real time Network Monitoring System can be widely used in networks of organization where a large number of computer systems, network printers are a part such as BPO s, Software Development Firms, Universities, Colleges etc.

- 20. For Server: Software Requirements: Ubuntu Linux 9.10 Release (Karmic Koala) or above

- 49. Limitations Requires separate login and thus the default login authentication system of the operating system is disabled.
- 50. Server side works well under Linux Operating System(specifically Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala).
- 51. Does not monitor all shared resources.
- 52. Future Enhancements Can be upgraded to include monitoring of other resources such as fax machines, scanners, etc.

- 54. making the print facility to be directly invoked from other applications. Can enhanced to include a network firewall.
