This paper provides an overview of real-time scheduling algorithms for wireless sensor networks (WSNs), focusing on the importance of real-time operating systems (RTOS) to meet critical deadlines in various applications. It discusses existing scheduling algorithms, their characteristics, and the design challenges of creating efficient operating systems for WSNs, leading to the proposal of the μc/os-ii with the earliest deadline first (EDF) algorithm for improved task scheduling. The study emphasizes the need for suitable OS features, including power management, reprogramming capabilities, and real-time guarantees to enhance performance in WSNs.
