Using Video for Project Reporting / LinkedIn Profile:
A checklist for recording & editing
a. Mobile phone
a. Is there sufficient battery?
b. How much memory is available?
c. Is the lens clean?
b. Accessories and Lighting
a. Is the phone to be mounted on a tripod?
b. Does the phone need to be slightly above the presenter?
c. Is there sufficient light on me
d. Are there shadows?
e. What mood does it create?
c. Personal appearance - remember you want to look good
a. How do I look?
b. Clothes tidy?
c. Who is the audience?
d. Is my tie straight?
e. No food in my teeth?
d. Vocal preparation
a. Do I need to do some warm up exercises (see below)?
b. Who is the audience (consider the style of speaking required, formal, informal,
relaxed)?
e. Seating / Standing
a. Am I going to be seated?
b. What is behind me?
c. Who is to be in the shot?
d. Do I need any props?

f. Speaking to camera
a. Are you located in the middle of the screen or to one side?
b. Do you know what you are going to say?
c. Will you be able to use / read from an autocue?
d. At the start of the recording count three seconds (in your head) so there is
some opening. This is particularly important if you are trying to edit the
recording in movie making software
e. Smile at the start
f. Speak up and clearly
g. Look into the camera lens
h. Imagine that you are talking to an old friend / a work colleague: this will affect
how you speak
i. At the end smile and then count three seconds before stopping. As for the
opening this is important when editing.
g. Review the recording ; immediately
a. When you have finished listen back to yourself
i. Were you clear?
ii. Did you repeat the same words over and over again
iii. Were your eyes focused on the lens or looking elsewhere
h. Use of Movie making software such as Window Movie Maker
a. Add titles
b. Add captions
c. Add music – remember there are copyright rules so you need to investigate
Royalty free music
i. Distributing the video
a. Uploading to YouTube:
i. You need a Google account.
ii. Create a custom URL (but this can only be done once)
iii. How will you share?
1. Public
2. Private
3. Unlisted
b. Posting onto LinkedIn
c. Uploading to OneDrive

Massage your face and jaw, making sounds as you go. Become aware of the jaw joint so that
your lower jaw can relax and sag and imagine that your upper jaw can float off upwards. It is
useful to help loosen the jaw and get rid of tension1

without hesitation, deviation or repetition.
3. Twitter & Vine: Vine is a 6 second video that links to Twitter. How could you get your point
across in 6 seconds?
