Miami University Community Video Site
The Idea Build a space where students can gather and be informed and entertained via video clips on topics relative and important to the Miami University community.  The Goals To use the space as a communications tool to accelerate school spirit and participation
To increase knowledge and awareness of the many opportunities available for students to become involved in – both in class, on campus via student organizations, and in the larger surrounding Oxford community.
The Reasons Increased student involvement will only benefit all aspects of the University and surrounding community. Such exposure to the opportunities available will spark interest, encourage engagement, and motivate participation.  It's important to be in the space your audience is – to use the same platforms, to take the same tone, and to understand the same culture. The web is where students are today – it's where they gather, interact, grow and learn.  College Students spend an average of 34 hours per week on the internet , according to a new Bryant University survey.  TV viewing time is decreasing, while exposure to internet videos and interactive modules are increasing rapidly.
The Concept The RedHawk Nest will be the space where community members can watch videos, interact via comments and ratings, and be exposed to more of what the University has to offer for all.  Student organizations will be the driving force behind the content and submission of videos. Their work will be showcased in the form of short video clips.  The content of these clips will range. They must be appropriate and add value to the community to be posted. Their purposes will range as well: from educational to promotional.  The Execution Such a space will be facilitated through the use of Fliggo, a custom service which allows for such community video site building.
