- 2. Written to inform readers about a certain topic. Needs research.
- 3. Key Features Tightly focused topic. Accurate, well-researched information. Various writing strategies. Clear definitions. Appropriate design.
- 4. The Rhetorical Situation Purpose To teach readers about a subject you’re interested in. Audience Someone who doesn’t know about the subject. (ex: a family member) Stance What seems most important about the topic that you are researching?
- 5. Writing Strategies What do you already know? Brainstorming Strategies Narrow your topic. Pick one aspect to talk about. Come up with a tentative thesis. What do you want to tell your audience? Do necessary research; revise your thesis.
- 6. Organization Introduction: Anecdote, Quote, Interesting Fact Background information. Give thesis. Describe your topic. Define any key terms. Explain. Conclusion
- 7. You may include visuals in your report if they are necessary to what you are talking about.
