- 2. This image represents a single mother who looks upset with her child’s head on her shoulder. This could mean that they are the only ones for each other and they look upset probably about the fact that they are alone. The image itself is black and white which could represent her previous life which her led her to this situation of being a single mother. The child looks around 2-4 years old and you could see that she is waiting for that father/ or support. If people have a look at this image two types of emotions would occur, sympathy or guilt and shame. Many people may assume that the father has left the mother with this child and therefore this mother and child are not getting the love and affection and joy that they should be. However others may think the mother may be the cause of this and now is being forced to stay with this kid as she has no emotions showing on her face. There are also many other assumptions you could make and judge this image but yet again it is the way the media has represented it.
- 3. This image shows a picture of chav which is a stereotype of some people. They tend to be arrogant and aggressive young teenagers which you could see from the image above. Her hairstyle plays a major role of her identity which labels her as a chav and the pink hoodie tells us she is a young teenager with her chains. The media has represented her as the main person and the background is all blurred. Her face expression isn’t too friendly it shows us that she isn’t bothered either of what people think of her or what’s going on around her. The negative stereotype about chavs could be that they tend not be as intelligent or have a reputation. They tend to have immature behavior with abusive languages. You could associate all this with her outfit and her facial expressions. The positive stereotype could be that they were designer clothes however then again they could be stolen.
- 4. This is a picture of an American man. This image has been represented by using a big fat burger which you could easily signify with American people. Many people would assume he loves junk food such as burgers and you could link this with his weight. He looks pleased by eating the big burger and is enjoying. People would just look at his appearance and group him as one of those fat American men. Again stereotyping takes place and many people would represent him with fast food, unhealthy, not bothered, lazy and so on. Whereas they might not see that they might not have enough time to cook meals to stay healthy. They would also associate him with XXL and probably think his fridge is full all the time of fast food. People automatically group people such as him by his appearance or action.
- 5. Nerds are generally considered as awkward and to themselves because there very timid. You could see this from this image as he’s enjoying reading his book and concentrated. People would call him weird for reading books specially with glasses with a tape around them and pointing his finger to every word he reads. People would place nerds in that specific group because of their attitude and how they don't stand up for themselves. They tend to think they are loners. The stereotypical nerd is intelligent but socially and physically awkward. The negative thing about nerd is they are bullied however some people feel sorry for them or are in favor of there intelligence. This Teenager has been represented very indifferent with his hairstyle that most boys wouldn’t have. In general people would call him odd and abnormal.
- 6. This Italian women is very traditional and you could see this by her outfit. She has been represented as very colourful and cheerful. The mise-en scene is very bright with warm feeling as its a sunny day. You could immediately tell she is Italian by her appearance. Even thought you cannot see pasta in this image automatically people associate pasta with Italian people as they eat pasta everyday. A positive stereotype could be that Italian people are fashionable and you could tell by the outfit the lady is wearing with all the colours and designs on her outfit.
