The Foo Fighters were formed by Dave Grohl after the breakup of Nirvana in 1994. He recruited members for the Foo Fighters and they released their debut album in 1995. Their second album in 1997 featured the hit songs "Everlong" and "My Hero" but also saw changes in band membership. Their third album in 1999 was recorded in Virginia and also resulted in further lineup shifts. Since 2001, the Foo Fighters have released several successful albums and toured extensively, becoming one of the most popular and acclaimed rock bands.
