The purpose of the research was to understand if cancer patients experienced more pain relief from a combination of oxycodone and complementary alternative medicine (CAT) compared to oxycodone alone. Two systematic reviews were examined but found no significant differences between medication therapy alone or combination therapy. The reviews had limitations such as small sample sizes and varying cancer types and CAT methods. While not proven clinically, CAT is becoming a popular additional option for some patients to potentially achieve further pain relief alongside medications.
