Jeremy Capps' research focuses on computationally investigating fully interacting quantum systems with spin-orbit interaction. His work models electron systems to include Coulomb interaction and screening effects. He has studied Friedel oscillations in systems with Rashba spin-orbit coupling by calculating the polarization function and charge density response. Capps is currently investigating enhanced spin and charge transport in 2D electron systems with spin-orbit interaction, where an antiferromagnetic ordering leads to an energy gap and improved thermoelectric properties. Future work will continue exploring exotic phenomena in 2D quantum systems due to spin-orbit interactions and calculating thermoelectric coefficients.
