The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive aims to limit six hazardous materials in electrical and electronic devices to protect human health and the environment. It sets maximum concentration levels for lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers, and cadmium. The directive also complements the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive, which promotes the reuse and recycling of electronic products.
