requirement for the healthcare industryto adopt the newest generation of[diagnosis] and
[procedure codes]. These codesare known as the 10th Editionof the International Classification of
[Diseases], more commonlyknownas [ICD-10].
The requiredadoption of[ICD-10] includes two medical data code sets as Health Insurance
Portabilityand AccountabilityAct of 1996 (HIPAA) standards for use inreporting diagnoses ([ICD-
10]-CM) and inpatient hospitalprocedures ([ICD-10]-PCS)inhealthcare transactions. These
standards replace the [ICD-9]code sets, developednearly30 years ago, with greatlyexpanded[ICD-
10] code sets. Thiswill helpfacilitate the UnitedStates’ ongoing transition to an electronic health
care environment.
The purpose of this project is to enhance the existingETL so that the ICD-10 codes can alsoflow in
the same route as ICD-9 codes ina single Column.
Therefore The ETL is enhanced (Column Name is changed for better understanding/ Columnlength
Change) to provide data to the customers depending onthe individualrequirement.
