There are 7 continents on Earth divided into countries and surrounded by oceans. The continents contain different landforms like plains, valleys, hills, plateaus, mountains, and rivers. Some key examples are the Andes mountain range in South America, the Himalayas in Asia containing Mount Everest, the Nile river in Africa being the longest river, and the Amazon river in South America being the widest.

- 11. Continents are divided into areas of land called countries. We can see them on a political map. Each country has a capital city, in which the government is normally located.

- 13. There are different landforms in each continent: Plains flat areas Valley is the area between mountains, often having a river running along it.
- 14. Hills a piece of land that rises higher than everything surrounding it. Plateaus are landforms that have a flat top and are elevated far above the surrounding area.
- 15. Mountains: rocky areas of land that come up high out of the Earth’s surface This is a mountain range: Rows of mountains which are close together.
- 17. The Andes: It is the longest moutain range in the world. It is in South America.
- 18. The Himalayas: Is a mountain range located in Asia. The Mount Everest is there, and it is the tallest mountain in the world.
- 19. Rainwater and melted snow form rivers in mountains, which travel down through valleys towards the sea.
- 21. The river Nile: It is in Egypt, in Africa. It is the longest river in the world.
- 22. The Amazon river: It is in South America. It is the widest river in the world.
