The revised version of Bloom's Taxonomy reorganized the six cognitive levels into Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, and Creating. Benjamin Bloom originally developed the taxonomy in 1956 to promote higher forms of thinking in education, but it was revised in 2001 by Lorin Anderson to better align with 21st century work. The revisions updated terminology and placements of the levels to provide educators a framework for setting learning goals, developing lessons, and assessing student performance.
